Law Enforcement Guidelines

Effective October 7, 2026.

These guidelines are for law enforcement officials and government agencies seeking records about Bindr users. Bindr is operated by Bindr Inc., a company based in Pennsylvania, United States. We cooperate with law enforcement in accordance with applicable law, our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

If you are a Bindr member, please do not use this page. Report safety concerns in the app or through our contact form, and contact your local police or emergency services directly if anyone is in danger.

How to submit a request

Send requests by email from an official government email address to legal@bindr.dating with the subject line "Law Enforcement Request", or by mail to:

Bindr Inc.
Attn: Legal / Law Enforcement Response
1333 Rosepointe Dr
York, PA 17404
United States

Each request should include:

  • The requesting agency, and the name, badge or ID number, official email address and phone number of the requesting officer.
  • The legal process (subpoena, court order or warrant) as an attachment, signed and issued by the appropriate authority.
  • Identifiers for the account: Bindr username, profile link, or the email address or phone number associated with the account.
  • The specific records requested and the relevant date range.
  • A response deadline, and whether a non-disclosure order applies.

Requests that are overly broad or vague, or that lack the required legal process, may be returned for clarification.

Legal process requirements (United States)

We disclose user records in accordance with the Stored Communications Act, 18 U.S.C. § 2701 et seq.

  • Subpoena: may compel basic subscriber information, such as the email address and phone number on the account, registration date, and IP addresses used to sign up or log in.
  • Court order under 18 U.S.C. § 2703(d): may compel additional non-content records about the account, such as account activity logs.
  • Search warrant: required for the contents of communications, such as messages, photos and other content the user stored in the account.

What records exist depends on the account and our retention practices. Content a user has deleted, or an account that has been deleted, may no longer be available.

Emergency disclosure requests

If you believe there is an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to any person, we may disclose information without legal process as permitted by 18 U.S.C. § 2702(b)(8) and (c)(4). Email legal@bindr.dating with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line and describe the nature of the emergency, why it is imminent, and the specific information needed to prevent harm. We review emergency requests as a priority.

Preservation requests

We will take steps to preserve existing records for 90 days pending receipt of formal legal process when we receive a preservation request under 18 U.S.C. § 2703(f) from a government entity. Preservation may be extended for one additional 90-day period on a renewed request. Please include the account identifiers and date range to be preserved.

Requests from outside the United States

Bindr Inc. is subject to United States law. Agencies outside the United States should submit requests through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), letters rogatory or another process recognized under US law. We may respond to emergency disclosure requests from foreign authorities where permitted by law.

User notice

We may notify users of requests for their information, unless we are prohibited by law or court order (for example, a non-disclosure order under 18 U.S.C. § 2705(b)), or notice would be counterproductive, such as in emergencies or cases involving child exploitation or human trafficking.

Child safety, trafficking and proactive reporting

Bindr has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material, child exploitation and human trafficking. Apparent child sexual abuse material found on Bindr is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, and we may proactively refer other serious threats to law enforcement. See our CSAE Policy and Community Guidelines.

Records authentication

Records we produce can be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from a custodian of records on request, which in most cases removes the need for in-person testimony.

These guidelines describe our general practices and do not create any rights for any person or party. We may change them at any time.
